My question is if I have a misdemeanor of theft (1,500 dlls) in my criminal record that happend 5 yrs ago, I was on probation and had an early termination. Can I become a Public Notary now?
Optional Information: State/Country relating to question: Texas
Welcome and thank you for your question!Texas law provides: "Sec. 406.004. ELIGIBILITY. Each person appointed and commissioned as a notary public shall be at least 18 years of age and a resident of the State of Texas and must not have been convicted of a felony or crime involving moral turpitude."Because theft is considered to be a crime of moral turpitude, your application to become a notary public will be denied. It has been my pleasure to assist you today with your information needs.
