My husband was convicted of misdemeanor destruction of private

This answer was rated:

My husband was convicted of misdemeanor destruction of private property in 2009, in Missouri. The person he was with broke a window, and they were both charged with it. He told the judge that he wasn't the one who did it, but the judge scared him into pleading guilty anyway by saying that he'd have to come back and pay more court fees to try to plead not guilty (and he didn't have any money). Since this, he hasn't been able to find a good job and now we can't even find a place to live because everywhere we look denies people with any convictions for "crimes against property." Is there any way we can ever get this removed from his criminal record? It's ruining our lives.

Thank you for using JustAnswer!

JB Umphrey :

I am sorry to learn of these circumstances.

Customer:

Is there anything we can do about it?

JB Umphrey :

Missouri law allows for the expungement of ARREST records when there is no conviction. This is the form one uses for that.

Missouri does not allow for the expungement of CONVICTIONS.

JB Umphrey :

So, unfortunately, the answer to your question is "no."

Customer:

Okay, thanks.
