Were you placed on a diversion or TAP program?

the terms do not sound familiar

Then you probably aren't eligible for an expungement, New York has restrictive rules. Basically, in order to be eligible, you have to have had charges dropped, been acquitted, pardoned, or, for drug offenses, been placed on one of the programs I mentioned. I know that wasn't the answer you were hoping for, but I can only give my honest assessment. I hope that helps. If so, please click the accept button. Good luck.

the charges were dropped after 6 months so do i meet the criteriaif so how do i go about getting an expungement or do i need one?

If the charges were dropped, then you are eligible. You do need to get it expunged so you don't show an arrest on your record.

Hello,

If you got a marijuana ACD it was dismissed and sealed automatically by operation of law at the 6 month mark. You might want to contact the clerk of the Brooklyn Criminal Court to make sure that the record did get sealed, but that's all you're eligible for.

The ACD is not a conviction but a conditional dismissal. NYS seals rather than expunges.
