Then the police did nothing wrong. It is a common misconception (mostly brought on by television), that the police are required to read you your Miranda rights upon arrest. That is not so--the police are only supposed to apprise you of your rights before they begin a formal interrogation session with you--as that did not take place, such an arrest is valid.
