Resolved Question:

a friend opened a credit card over the internet about 5 yrs ago under her husbands name without him knowing about a yr later he found out and even he was very mad he paid the bill now they are divorced and he is threating to send her to jail for this incedent along with her parents because the bill was mailed to their address i was wondering about the statue of limitation on this matter or is he blowing smoke to scare her to get what he wants in the divorce

If the husband found out and didn't do anything about it - other than accepting responsibility for the debt by paying the bill - it is very unlikely that she could be charged with anything.


Also, the statute of limitations for criminal offenses ranges from 1-3 years (other than murder) in Arkansas. Thus, even if he could have charged her, the time to file charges has passed.
