what do you do if your a waiter and your manager at work puts a guest check in your name that he transfered from another server because the people left without paying and he would rather you pay it then thesever it happened to ,he denied doing it and said it was my check the whole time but it was done on the computer and there should be a record

that is unbelievable the computer should have the answer as to whose customer walked and it just seems the manager/owner would want to have this straight. unless, they are trying to force you to quit -


i don't like telling you this but there really is nothing you can do legally. unless you want to sue your employer in small claims court for the amount it cost you. if you file a lawsuit, you can then demand that the computer records be given as evidence.


it's a process to take someone to court and while i know that it is the entire principle of the matter - in addition to whatever it cost you in tips - you need to ask yourself is it worth it. will those records still be available at court time, etc?
