Is there any reason a Assistant United States Attorney woulb be appointed more than one time for the same office in the same district eight months apart?

Only thing I can think of is that the first appointment was temporary, to fill some office where the prior attorney's appointment terminated prematurely (e.g., death, disability, resignation, etc.).
