Customer Question

i am a first year law student. i was recently arrested for misdemeanor trespass. i was hoping to get a judicial externship this summer or work for the PD or DAs office. will this deter me from attaining any position with such agencies?

It's not a bar, but it is certainly an obstacle.

You should be up front about it and provide a reasonable explanation. That's the best you can do. Don't try to hide it. The types of agencies you are looking to work for will do a background check. The best bet is to be upfront about it (in law school, my clinic supervisor called this "taking the sting out of the bee").

You'll overcome it. Best of luck.
