My girlfriend is currently in jail, awaiting an arraignment

Resolved Question:

My girlfriend is currently in jail, awaiting an arraignment on Monday for a domestic violence charge because of me. She is studying to become a nurse and I've read that even a misdemeanor like this, can prevent her from getting a license. If I was to hire a lawyer, would it help prevent her from having a DV charge on her record? And, should I be present at her arraignment?

Hello,

Thank you for your question. I am happy to assist you.

A lawyer and your support at the arraignment would typically be very helpful. You can consider having the attorney you retain speak with the prosecutor prior to the arraignment. He can inform the prosecutor that you do not want to press charges.

I hope that the information which I provided was helpful to you.

Best wishes for a successful outcome. If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to submit them to me directly.
