I am being sued for 10k in charges made on plaintiffs

Customer Question

i am being sued for 10k in charges made on plaintiffs personal credit card, she added me as authorized user on her discover card without my knowledge. My social security number was never attached. (verified with card company when I found card and cancelled) the purchases im being sued for, I had nothing to do with. Plaintiff wrote me fraudulent checks totaling 5k. I do not live in that state anymore as of 4 months ago and just now got served with papers. What is the best way to handle this case? counterclaim?

Yes, I would file a counterclaim for fraud, and that she added you to the card. You should not ignore it otherwise she can take a default judgement.

You should consider hiring a local attorney who can then sue to recover his/her attorney fees from her as well for the fraudulent claim you had to defend.
