I have a couple of medical bills that are around $500.00.

Customer Question

I have a couple of medical bills that are around $500.00. They are now with a collections agency. I asked them if I paid it would they remove it from my credit report and they said they wouldn't even consider it until it was paid, even then it's not guaranteed to come off. Is there something I can do or ask for the removal of this debt on my credit report once it's paid? What are my rights?

Once it is reported, there is no legal obligation to remove an accurate item from the history.

They have to show it as paid on your report is it is paid.
