Customer Question

I am buying a home and after they ran my credit report they found only one negative mark, a 6886.00 charge off from Barclay's bank Delaware. I challenged the 3 credit bureau and only one deleted the account. The other 2 did not and when I called and asked why they said it was verified as mine. I ask for what proof was given and they did not have that information. I also finally got ahold of a higher rep at Barclay's and they said my address and name match so it's your debt. What do I do?
Thank you
Al

HelloYou have a few options. you can appeal internally. You can file a police fraud report. You can sue to have it removed, and you can report the matter to the attorney general office.

Let me know if that is helpful, and if I may clarify anything.

Appeal with the credit agencies

They have an internal appeal process, and you may turn to the civil court to get a court order directing them to remove the mark

I would file in court to have it removed and pursue an internal appeal with the agency, and you may also have a local lawyer write them to add more pressure.
