Recent Feedback
I recently tried to make a credit purchase and it was denied. I checked my credit report and old debt had been sold to different companies and reopened, some dating back from 2004-2007, but they reopened them to look new. Isn't there anything I can do to keep this from appearing on my credit report? They are over 7 years old. This can keep repeating until I die and I will never be able to get credit.

They aren't supposed to extend the time it is reported on your credit report just because the debt is sold to someone else. Contact the credit reporting agency and advise them as to the age of the debt and it should be removed. If it is not then your only alternative is to sue them and whatever company is reporting it for violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.If you would like any additional information or have more questions please don’t hesitate to ask but please do so my clicking on the Reply to Expert tab.We work for Positive Ratings, please click on one of the top three ratings or one of the Smile Faces, as this would be appreciated. Be very careful about looking at other internet sites that just post generic information without any inquiry into your facts because often those answers are dated, wrong, or wrong as applied to your facts. Please be aware that my answer is not legal advice, it is merely information. You should always contact a local attorney for legal advice.Several customers have asked how they direct a question to me in particular.
