In the state of CA, what are the laws governing an online contest at a website for the most purchases over a 3 day period. Winner receives $500 gift card. My win was announced in a general email sent to all customers. I also received a personal email declaring my win. The next day I was informed via email that they had made a mistake, and another user had actually purchased more than I. Do they have any legal obligation to honor their declaration of my win? I need reference to actual laws stating my rights.
