have a volvo ec15b excavator runnibg away has all new filter cleaned tank and all fuel lines had injectors test were good found stuck thermostat rwemoved now getting white smoke and plenty of it before i removed thermostat the smoke was black also plenty of it

this unit was running wild and was putting out lots of black smoke cleaned return lines tank injector lines had injectors tested found unit was running hot thermostat was stuck closed removed thermostat now unit still running wide open but smoke is white

Hello, okay so it sounds like your telling me the engine is at wide throttle at all times. Also that you have a lot of white smoke coming out the exhaust . White smoke equals either coolant or excessive un-burn fuel. So since the unit ran hot are you losing coolant or adding coolant? Also timing of the injection pump could be a issue with un-burn fuel so the pump may have internal issues. I would recomend doing a compression test and look for about 400-450 psi on each cylinder with no more than 10% deviation between. Also check the timing if you have the ability. Thanks Dan

im heading towards a head gasket cause it was run hot is that possibly the problem

yes that would allow coolant into the cylinder or cause compression loss.
