I have 1972 JD 400 backhoe/loader. No brakes. New repair kit

Customer Question

I have 1972 JD 400 backhoe/loader. No brakes. New repair kit in brake control. When you block off brake lines it will not build pressure. The brake control unit is mounted to the reverser unit.

Click on the picture to go with the descriptions and let me know if this looks like the brake valve you have and overhauled? If so did you do both kits?
Customer: replied 8 months ago.

Serial #T0118521 I believe for the JD 400

thanks for the info. Check the check valves in the valve for problems. It is possible the check balls are not seating correctly. Are you getting any flow from the lines if cracked loose? the brake piston seals can leak internally causing a loss of brakes and brake pressure but it sounds like you alread isolated that the valve is not sending anything to the brakes. In the diagram the upper hole needs to be open. It is the path to sump when master cylinder gets full... an overflow of sorts. If you plug the bottom one and still have problems, Most likely check valves #31 needs replaced. AT184434 click below
