Customer Question

I have a Caterpillar 257B needed bleeding the air. while doing that we broke the fuel tube to the ejectors. Replaced with a new one and tried to start the engine with a starter spray into the chamber of the air filter. after a few second of cranking the power went off completely.
Tested voltage between battery plus and stack of trays on the left top and most readings were 27.2 volts.
How can I start the engine?

Do you have the full battery voltage to the starter solenoid, where the posiitve battery cable attaches?

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

On the same solenoid is the switch wire, jump from the positive post to the switch post and see if engine will spin. If not, and there is voltage, the solenoid or starter is bad.
