is there such a thing as a glue to patch oil leaks? i was told that Caterpillar used to make a glue and this was their actual fix

Yes years ago Cat used epoxy to seal oil leaks on the front covers of 3406E engines. It actually did not work that good. The engines still leaked oil.

To be honest. It's best to replace the gasket or seal to stop the leak. I would not recommend using epoxy.
