Thanks for asking your question. I will try and help you out.

What kind of damage is done to the engine? Cylinder damage?

How long did the engine run before the engine was damaged?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Typical damage, water ferrules melted, valve guides worn, rings worn, slight pickup on cylinders, indications are engine breather blowing, and blocked by oil pressure within the block. Typically 250 to 500 hours each time. The dealer is after 5 warranty repairs saying it is for our account. I have owned many 966G, and H,s and have never experienced this. The application is stockpiling and loading coal into rail wagons. Thank you.

I meant to add that cylinder number 2 and 5 seem to be the worst each time. The dealer is saying this is a common fault ?

Thanks for the information.

Does the engine run hot all of that time? Or just at the end?

Has the fuel system timing been checked?
