My Stenhoj 2 post hoist was being lowered and went past the "STOP" point. The safety shut-off did not work. Now I can't get the main nut and the safety nut apart. Do I keep trying with 2 pipe-wrenches?

your lock nut is trapezoidal thread

which means it is pitch

and it should be RH thread and may be Brass

yes just keep using the pipe wrench

put a little heat to it
