Machine won't crank, solonoid clicks but won't crank over. Voltage on the system is 12.4. The code was f974

In addition the oil indicator light on the dash remains illuminated when the unit is placed in park and the key is turned on. It has done this once in the past however I put some jumper cables on and it started that time although it had a new battery then and now.

check voltage at the starter before and during starting

you want 12= before start and drops to 11.2 during cranking,

also try to jump starter solenoid, small terminal against big battery terminal

PS we are moving my daughter today, so I will not be on line until this afternoon

I was able to schedule a John Deere service technician to stop out Saturday morning He replaced the starter and all is good again.
