WHAT WOULD CAUSE OIL TO GET INTO WATER AND OIL IN THE FUEL TANKS IN A VOLVO DIESEL
Optional Information: Make: Volvo Model: VNM 614 Year: 2003 Already Tried: CHANGED FILTER
Hi. Thanks for using JA! I will try and help you out.Normally when oil gets into the water the leading thing that causes this is a failed oil cooler. But since you also have oil in the fuel tanks as well I would suspect your engine may have a cracked head. Sorry I wish I had better news. Please let me know if you need more help or have more questions.
IF THE HEAD WAS CRACKED WOULD'NT THERE BE WATER IN THE OIL.
Not necessarily. Since the oil pressure is higher than cooling system pressure, oil will always go into the cooling system. Sometimes a small amount of water can go back into the oil when the engine is off, but not much, very little.
