My Dell Inspiron with Windows 8 won't start up probably. Exception Breakpoint was flashing and now after putting in my code at startup the screen goes blank.

I can't log in. At the windows screen where I type in my passcode, after I type my code it goes blank. This happened after getting the "exception breakpoint" error.

Error 0142 is a hard drive error, is your computer under warranty??

Disk is bad need to be replaced, if youre in warranty they will replace it for free but all your data is lost

depends of the capacity, give me the service tag of your computer it is under the laptop and have 7 digits, ill check the warranty

Is it best to repair or replace?

replace, repeair is too hard for a hard drive

I think theres not much we can do to repair the computer, the only option is to replace the hard drive

A hard drive is cheaper, but you have yo install the operatins system, if you dont have the media you will need one to install OS

I have the drivers and utilities disk that came with the laptop

that disk are just to install drivers, you need the operating system

the hard drive replacement is cheaper than a new computer but the hard drive arrive with no data

O well, When you get the disk replaced you will need an OS to install, you can contact Dell support maybe they can give you a link to download an OEM iso
