All my emails in my yahoo inbox and aol inbox disappeared

Customer Question

all my emails in my yahoo inbox and aol inbox disappeared from before 10/25/16 at yahoo and 10/29/16 at aol and both cannot restore when I requested, is this a hack or an odd tech glitch coincidence that happened on both servers at yahoo and aol?
JA: How long have you had this issue with your Yahoo account?
Customer: I just noticed this in both yahoo and aol a week ago, administrators in both couldn't restore missing mails, I guess because more than 7 days
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: you mean apple updates because all my devices are apple
JA: Anything else you want the computer expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: I guess my emails are gone forever, i'm just curious to know if its possible to know if they were stolen or deleted or not

Hi ,

My name is***** am sorry to hear that you are having this issue.

I will be glad to assist you with this.

The best option will be to use a screen connect remote session so that I can connect to your computer directly and check on this for you.

I will send you the info.

I can't see how connecting with my computer will help, since the problem is on servers of aol and yahoo
Expert:  Randy Computer Tech replied 12 days ago.

are you using a mail application like outlook or are you using the default yahoo and aol mail applications?

Customer: replied 12 days ago.
I asked that the problem is on servers not my computer
Expert:  Randy Computer Tech replied 12 days ago.

Im not sure, are you using a mail application like outlook or are you using the default yahoo and aol mail applications?

Customer: replied 12 days ago.
no, I am looking directly on yahoo and aol websites
Customer: replied 12 days ago.
logging instead of looking
Customer: replied 12 days ago.

Customer: replied 12 days ago.
are you still there or you can't provide an answer?
Expert:  Randy Computer Tech replied 12 days ago.

okay, do you check those on any other devices or apps?

Customer: replied 12 days ago.
just my iPhone, and Macbook
Expert:  Randy Computer Tech replied 12 days ago.

okay, your iPhone app could be set to delete those emails after a certain date or time.

Customer: replied 12 days ago.
I checked that and its not the case, this issue only happened recently
Expert:  Randy Computer Tech replied 12 days ago.

okay, that ma y have been a glitch with the servers It does seem unlikely since it happened on two different accounts.

If the emails are important to you it is possible to get them back.

If any of your emails have been deleted or gone missing in the last 7 days, you can submit a restore request and try to recover your lost messages.

  • Restorations aren't always successful.
  • Messages can only be restored if lost or deleted in the last 7 days.
  • Restore requests can't be cancelled and only the most recent request is processed.

From a desktop or laptop computer, submit your request:

I have 2 step verification on both accounts, do you know which is more likely emails hacked and stolen or just deleted
Customer: replied 12 days ago.
already made retire request and failed
Customer: replied 12 days ago.
restore instead of retire
Expert:  Randy Computer Tech replied 12 days ago.

I would lean toward the deletion in that case. The two step verification is very secure.
