no its all programs, I never had a problem with the DVD w/Wind.7 I even downloaded for update on the drive itself

Does it let you open a CD disk (not DVD)?

Can you click on Start -> Settings -> System -> Display, and check the display settings /advanced display settings, and adjust the resolution numbers there, and check?
