JA: Just to clarify, what's the make and model of your computer? What version of Windows are you running?
Customer: HP ENVY windows 10
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: I've been transferring a lot of files, etc from my old computer. I think when I first started I did download some files. Can't remember for sure.
JA: Anything else you want the computer expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: not really

Hi. My name is***** you for your question and the opportunity to assist.

Did you copy the files from your old computer to an external drive and then plug the drive

it in to your new machine to move them over?

Thank you. Moving them over should be pretty straightforward. Try this with just a single file:

right-click on any file on the drive that you want to move and select copy. You won't see anything happen

but the file has now been copied to your computer memory.

Then, right-click on an empty area of your desktop and select Paste. The file

should then be copied from memory and you'll see it appear on your desktop.

I'm just having you do this with a single file so that we know the copy process is working.

Were you able to copy over a single file with no errors?
