I entered my password and Windows will not open. It says it

I entered my password ***** Windows will not open. It says it is not correct, but I know it is
JA: When did you last reset your username and password?
Customer: About 3 weeks ago
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: Not that I know of. But today when it repeatedly refused to open with my password, I clicked on a different icon "Test" and it opens that. That desktop contains outdated QuickBooks and other folders
JA: Anything else you want the computer expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: Another box came up asking to allow Intuit to make changes. I think it did change something, but not sure what

If you have Windows 10, on the login screen you will have 3 icons on the lower right corner of the screen.

There is no place to log in. The window that is open was marked "test" and doesn't require a password. I do not know how to find the window that contains everything I use

Restart the machine or log out. At the login screen you'll see the user accounts listed in the lower left hand corner

Select your account and enter the new password.

Of course I can't find that box now. Right now I'm at user accounts in control panel & the only one it shows is 'test' - 'local account administrator'

If you want to log in to the computer as a different user you need to either sign out of the account you're

logged in to now or restart the computer.

What I really need is just one user & forget about a password. So all my programs & fes are in one place. I think w10 is confusing, & I was forced to change to it

If you log in to your other account that's based on your gmail address you should see your familiar desktop.
