I'm trying to set up a new Durf
JA: What kind of computer do you have?
Customer: Start again: new Surface Pro 3 Got interrupted half way through and now can't get past the request for a PIN. Also insists its not online.
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: Not on the Surface. Am typing from my Dell laptop by the way.
JA: Anything else you want the computer expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: No.

Hi,

I'm sorry about the issue. If you click on the Wi-Fi/ wireless icon on the screen, if it's there, does it let you connect to Wi-Fi / wireless network name?

Besides the PIN option, do you see any other sign-in options below it?

Solution #1:

- First, if possible, please click on the Wi-Fi / wireless icon, if available, at the password ***** login screen of the Surface Pro 3 laptop, then select / connect to your Wi-Fi / wireless network name

, then click on some options / icons under the option Sign-in options, if available, at the login screen

, then see if it lets you sign in with your password (instead of the PIN.)

Solution #2:

- If that does not work, and if it does shown an email address at the password ***** login screen, then please try the followings:

1. On the working Dell laptop, click on the website below:

https://account.live.com/ResetPassword.aspx

2. Then there, select the option "I forgot my password", then click on Next at the bottom.

3. Then in the first box, type in the email address as shown on the problematic Surface laptop.

4. Then in the second box, type in the characters as shown on the page.

5. Then click on Next at the bottom. Then follow the instructions there in order to reset your Microsoft account password

, then try it on the problematic Surface laptop, and check.

Solution #3:

- If still does not work, please try the following steps on the problematic Surface laptop:

  1. At the password ***** login screen, press and keep holding the Shift key on the keyboard.
  2. Click on the Power icon at the bottom right of the computer's screen, then click on the option Restart while still holding the Shift key.
  3. When a menu appears, then you can release the Shift key.
  4. When prompted, click on the Troubleshoot option.
  5. Then select the option Reset PC, and continue.
  6. When prompted, select the option "Removing everything" and "Just remove files.", and continue.
  7. Wait for the reset process to finish, then it will let you set up the Surface laptop again. When prompted, please enter a new PIN / password ***** want, and remember it this time.
