Does Windows Update not check for updates?
Does it check for updates but never finds any and just keeps checking?
Or does it find updates but can't install them?
Thanks. Click the start button and in the search area type: troubleshooting
and open the Troubleshooting search result. On the page in the upper left click View All
:You'll see a list of troubleshooters. The last one on the list is Windows Update.
Run that troubleshooter and see if it fixes it.
It might take several minutes. Let it run for a bit.
If that doesn't report anything useful go here and get this troubleshooter:
What's the brand and model number of your computer. It may have a recovery partition.
OK. HPs do have a recovery partition. Is there anything you need to back up on the machine first?
During the recovery process you'll have the option to back up files.
Do you have an external hard drive or large flash drive you can connect to the computer?
And do you have your Quicken install disk?
Can you read the instructions in the attachment below? When I type them in and try to send I'm getting and error.
That may be big enough.

This may be a networking issue. Windows update says you have updates but for whatever reason they're not
downloading. The instructions in the attachment reset the networking protocols and may get the downloads
