Customer Question

Hi Pearl, I am Margene. I put a disc in my dvd player on my computer and it somehow is lost inside. How do I get it out?
JA: Just to clarify, what's the make and model of your machine, and what operating system are you running?
Customer: It is HP Pavillion operating on Wkindows 10
JA: Tell me a bit more about what's going on so he can help you best.
Customer: All I know is that the player would not play after inserting the disc so I opened the drawer and the disc was not there.
JA: Is there anything else the Computer Technician should be aware of?
Customer: Like what? This seems to be the only problem I am having.
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Computer Technician about your situation and then connect you two.

By disc being lost inside, meaning disc door will not eject? Or, it ejects and you see no disc?

To be certain, this is a desktop correct?
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
This is a laptop
Expert:  JACUSTOMER-afux62bq- replied 6 months ago.
Where the eject button is, do you see tiny pin holes on either side of it?
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
No holes on the outside
Expert:  JACUSTOMER-afux62bq- replied 6 months ago.
By the way, you may need a tool as thin as a pin to stick within hole which sometimes can be beneath... Also, can you see disc inside drive?
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
I do not readily see the disc. I have a pin I can use

If you have a slot feed cdrom drive you shouldnt try to get it out yourself as you might further damage your on accident. if you have a tray model that pops out then if you follow the center of the cdrom drive in toward the base (bottom plastic) of the computer you will likely see a screw. you will only need to remove that one screw on almost all cases and then you can take your fingernail and literally slide the cdrom drive out or eject your cdrom drive and gently slide it out of the base housing that the cdrom sits in. make sure your computer is off and unplugged.

It is a slide in but I am no see a screw in the bottom of it
Expert:  JACUSTOMER-afux62bq- replied 6 months ago.
Underneath the laptop is there an engraved arrow pointing towards any screw holes?
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
No arrow but several screw holes
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
There are four in the area where the drawer slides in
Expert:  JACUSTOMER-afux62bq- replied 6 months ago.
Any screw holes close to dvd drive? If you unscrew the correct on, it will eject the drive bay allowing you to remove dvd drive from laptop... It should only be one screw hole that does the job...
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
I found one on the side might that be it
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
It is not a screw hole it is more like a pin hole
Expert:  JACUSTOMER-afux62bq- replied 6 months ago.
Can you pull dvd drive as a whole from slot?
Expert:  JACUSTOMER-afux62bq- replied 6 months ago.
The right screw should loosen drive bay
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
It does not come all the way ouy
Expert:  JACUSTOMER-afux62bq- replied 6 months ago.
Can you tell if it's due to some connection or obstruction?
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
