I tried to test my new Mailchimp email manager but the emails did not come to my Inbox on my Imac Mail account and they did not go to either Gmail boxes Social or Promotion. They only went to the All Mail box under heading More.Also I get messages " Mail cannot connect to Gmail. Enter Google Mail password.

Hello and welcome.It is possible they're being labeled as Spam or being archived.
