Welcome to Justanswer.com, my name is ***** ***** I will do my best to assist you.

If you have already tried the reset pinhole and still get the error. T hen you have one of two issues.

Either the fan is clogged and needs to be cleaned out.

Or the fan needs to be replaced. The page below shows you how to get to the fan

https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/pd025218

Once you have the fan exposed you can clean it with compressed air and qtips dipped in rubbing / iso-propyl alcohol, or you can replace the fan.

If you have an X1 carbon and not the original x1, t his is how you can disassemble it to get to the fan.

You can purchase the fan here if you need to replace it. http://amzn.to/1XlEJfT

And if you do purchase the fan, you will need to apply new thermal paste http://amzn.to/1XlEPnQ
