I have connected a Bose speaker and sub-woofer set to my

Customer Question

I have connected a Bose speaker and sub-woofer set to my Samsung computer. The sound is great, but when I play my Samsung DVD player, which you helped me connect, I am limited to the original computer speakers, which, obviously don't sound as good. How do I get the DVD player sound to run through my Bose speakers?

Hi again,

What is the model of your Samsung DVD player?

Does it have an audio out on the back?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
It's a BD-J5900 and it has a digital audio out in the back.
Expert:  Randy Computer Tech replied 10 months ago.

okay, thats going to be the only way to use the bose for audio, you will have to connect that with an optical cable to the bose.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
It's actually a coax out, not an optical. Does that make a difference?

Sorry about the delay, thank you for your patience. I was offline for a few hours.

I checked on the options for you to get the Bose to work with the dvd. The only option is to use an hdmi converter that extracts the audio. The dvd player is designed for the audio to go through the hdmi cable with the video.

Expert:  Randy Computer Tech replied 10 months ago.

did that work for you?

Please let me know if you need more help.

Sorry for the delay. How do I connect the HDMI converter to the Bose speakers? Or do I connect it to the computer HDMI input? I already have connected an HDMI cable from the DVD player, the only output cable it has, to the computer. The Bose speakers do not have an HDMI input.
Expert:  Randy Computer Tech replied 10 months ago.

You will need to purchase an hdmi audio extractor. The hdmi audio extractor will connect between the DVD player and tv.. It will have c an audio output that goes to the Bose.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
OK. Thank you. I think you meant "between the DVD player and the computer" not a TV, right? Can I get this extractor from Best Buy?
Expert:  Randy Computer Tech replied 10 months ago.

yes, sorry, from the computer to the dvd.

Your gonna need the extractor and also a splitter for the optical audio cable.
