Hello. My name is ***** ***** I will be assisting you today.

What happens when you try to login?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
sometimes nothing, sometimes system restarts and then back to start up password.
Expert:  Cody replied 11 months ago.

Can we try a remote session, if you're able to get logged in and connect me?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
i am on a different computer than the infected one
Expert:  Cody replied 11 months ago.

Can you get on the infected one?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
i cannot log onto that laptop.
Expert:  Cody replied 11 months ago.

If that doesn't work, we'll need to burn a CD and boot from it. Do you have any blank CDs we can burn?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
after 3 tries it restarted and i am at the automatic repair window
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
restart or advanced options are the choices
Expert:  Cody replied 11 months ago.

try the restart

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
is there any way we could take a break for about an hour. i really need to run to the bank right now before they close.
Expert:  Cody replied 11 months ago.

that's fine, I'll be around all night

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
it took me back to the startup password *****
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
just leave this screen up until i get back?
Expert:  Cody replied 11 months ago.

Yes that's fine, when you get back, see if you can finish out that list of passwords with restarts in between. Then we'll burn a CD to boot from.

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
will be back asap.
Expert:  Cody replied 11 months ago.

k

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
hey cody, i'm back.
Expert:  Cody replied 11 months ago.

you get through all the passwords? You have access to a blank CD?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
still trying passwords. shuts down and restarts. takes time.
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
no luck on the passwords. i was able to get into advanced options. i have a screen that has start-up settings that you might be able to use. like safe mode.
Expert:  Cody replied 11 months ago.

see if safe mode with networking works

Expert:  Cody replied 11 months ago.

If that doesn't work, we need to download this file to a working PC and burn it onto a CD.

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
there is no administrator set up on this computer. don't need it for advanced options. clicked safe mode with networking. went back to startup password ***** i have a blank disk.
Expert:  Cody replied 11 months ago.

ok download the above file, extract it.

then burn that cd080802.iso file to the CD

I use this program to burn CDs http://www.softsea.com/download/ISO-Image-Burner.html

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
what file?
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
what do you mean extract?
Expert:  Cody replied 11 months ago.

when you download it

you have to right click the folder and go to extract

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
hey, i am back. accidentally closed window. couldn't find ya.
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
i think the disc is ready
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
are you there?
Expert:  Cody replied 11 months ago.

yes, put the CD in the infected computer

It should boot up on its own, if not press F12 repeatedly on startup and choose to boot from CD/DVD

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
can you just call me ? would be easier.
Expert:  Cody replied 11 months ago.

Once we get it booted, it's easy steps from here on out.

Attached are step by step screenshots.

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
my screen doesn't look like that. i have a screen that has ' boot menu 'at the top left. under that is:
HDD/SSD; TOSHIBA MQ01ABD050
USB
ODD: TSSTcorp CDDVDW
LAN: Realtek PXE
Expert:  Cody replied 11 months ago.

we want ODD: TSSTcorp CDDVDW

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
it went to 'automatic repair ' screen
Expert:  Cody replied 11 months ago.

try again, if cd is working it'll boot to diff menu

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
when i burnt the disc i never saw extract. it was save file to.
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
this is taking waaayyyy too long. i don't have all night to mess with this computer! i need your attention.
Expert:  Cody replied 11 months ago.

It sounds like the CD might not be burned correctly, can you remote me into the PC that you're burning the CD with?
