would there be any problem in resetting it and starting over fresh?
If you'd like to go the reset route please do this: Start the machine up such that you are looking at the login screen.
While holding down the Shift key, click the Power icon in the lower right corner and select Restart.
Release the Shift key when you see "Please Wait"
When the Choose an Option page opens click Troubleshoot.
On that page select Reset Your PC and follow the prompts.
This will allow you to start fresh with a new password.
