I'm sorry about the issue. What's the model of your Windows 8.1 computer?

When did this issue first occur?

What is the error or message when trying to log in your Windows 8.1 computer?

Does it show a name or username at the password ***** login screen?
Does it show an email address at the password ***** login screen?

It shows login scream with e-mail and my name ....I put password ***** it says wrong ....its a little shaky for a week or so but 2 days can't get in

Was the password ***** (it is case-sensitive)?

Do you recognize that email address? If yes, do you currently have access to that email address or not?

Are the CAPS lock and NUM lock keys on the keyboard are on or off?

It looks like you are not there. Let me provide a couple of solutions you can try when you are available.

Solution #1:

- On another working computer (or tablet or smartphone), please go to the website below:

https://account.live.com/ResetPassword.aspx

, then there, select the option I forgot my password, then click on Next

, then in the first box, enter the email address as shown on the problematic computer

, then in the second box, enter the characters as shown on the page

, then click on Next and continue following the instructions there in order to reset the password, then try on the problematic computer.

Solution #2:

- If that does not work, please try the following fix:

  1. At the password ***** login screen, press and keep holding the Shift key on the keyboard.
  2. Click on the Power icon, then click on the option Restart while still holding the Shift key.
  3. When a menu appears, then you can release the Shift key.
  4. When prompted, click on the Troubleshoot option.
  5. Then select the option Reset your PC, and continue.
    When prompted, select the option "Just remove files", and continue.

- If that still does not work, please try the following:

  1. At the password ***** login screen, click on the Ease of Access icon located a the bottom right of the computer's screen.
  2. Then click on the option On-Screen Keyboard.
  3. Then click on the Shift key on the left of the On-Screen Keyboard on the computer's screen.
  4. Click on the Power icon at the bottom right of the computer's screen, then click on the option Restart.
  5. When prompted, click on the Troubleshoot option.
  6. Then select the option Reset PC, and continue.
    When prompted, select the option "Just remove files", and continue.
