Customer Question

I have a brand new new Toshiba laptop computer. I was trying to set up my Microsoft account. Somewhere along the line I made some sort of error in setting up the account, now I can not recover my account. I already spoke to someone at "account.live.com" and they could resolve my problem. They suggested I contact this site for help. Please understand I am not very computer literate, so I will need someone to walk me thru the process.
Thank you for your help

Hi Dan. My name is***** you for your question and the opportunity to assist. There is a way to fix this so you can start over.

Start or restart the machine such that you are looking at the login screen (but don't try to log in yet)

While holding down the Shift key, click the Power icon in the lower right corner and select Restart.

Release the Shift key when you see "Please Wait"

When the Choose an Option screen opens click Troubleshoot.

Click Reset this PC. Use the Remove Everything option (see attachment)

This will set the computer back to the way it was when first turned on.

Let me know if any issues please.
