Please Reboot the computer and repeatedly tap the F8 key until the menu appears. Select Repair your computer then press enter. Accept or change the language and keyboard selections, then click Next.

Select your Windows user name from the drop-down list, and enter your Windows password, then click OK.

The System Recovery Options menu will appear, select Startup Repair then follow the prompts.

Installing windows 10 can absolutely help solving this problem, do you have the windows 10 installation disc ? also do you have important data on your desktop ?

no i know they r offering windows 10 for free thats why i said this

Yes it is free but before that you need to login to your computer an d launch the updates.

can you try these steps again :

  1. Turn on the computer, after the Dell logo press F8 key repeatedly until the Advanced Boot Options menu (Advanced Startup Options).
  2. In Advanced Boot Options, highlight Repair Your Computer and press Enter.
  3. Click Next and logon to the administrator account in the computer.
  4. Click Dell DataSafe Restore and Emergency Backup and DataSafe Options.
  5. Choose Restore without preserving new or changed file. Click Next to continue.
  6. Choose Yes and click Next to continue.
  7. Progress status will appear. Click Restart to initiate the restoration process.

probably got in to the preboot system assessment page letting it scan while im here got this by f12 key couldnt get f8 to do anything
