Hi. My name is***** you for your question and the opportunity to assist.
Can you tell me the model number of the PC?
To go back to original factory configuration start or restart the computer and
as soon as you see the Asus logo onscreen begin steadily tapping the F9 key
to begin the process. When the black screen comes up with Window Setup Ems enabled
highlighted press Enter.
Go to System Recovery and select the option to recover to entire hard drive.
thank you for that.
Are you still able to log in to the machine?
This doesn't sound like an anti-virus issue. Hold down the power button to turn off the machine. Wait a few moments and then power it back on and please let me know what shows up on the screen?
After restarting are you able to get to the screen where you enter your password?
Not at this point. What appears onscreen when the the machine restarts.
Are there any error messages?
OK. Thank you. That is not a good message. It means that the hard drive has failed and will need to be replaced.
This is what could be called a catastrophic failure. Replacement of the drive is the only resolution.
The least expensive thing to do if you want to keep the computer is to get a new hard drive and order the recovery software
from Asus. It's cheaper than buying a copy of Windows 7. The recovery disks also come with the drivers and original
software that you wouldn't get by just installing a new copy of Windows.
You can get a low cost replacement drive of the same size as you have now from here:
The recovery software, directly from Asus, you can get from here:
If you need any other information or have further questions please let me know.
And if you could take a moment before leaving to leave a service rating using the stars
at the top of the page it would be much appreciated.
