For Online Computer Support, Ask a Computer Technician
Hello and thank you for choosing just answer.
Are you on the computer that is having the problem now?
Yeah, it needs to continue to update
Although, what is strange, is that you should NOT be able to go from XP to Win10
Yeah, I will be here for the next few hours.
Oh man....you might have a doozy of a issue.
YOu might need to pop the XP discs back in, and do a repair. But that may not work. and you may have to completely re-install, meaning wiping data.
But if you can pull the hard drive out, and connect to a diff computer, you might be able to save/move the data off.
Yes, I am still here.....but it does take a bit of time to type out long responses.
I can certainly help....that's not the problem. But I want you to be prepared for the long list of troubleshooting issues, that's all
In order to fix....we must first collect our tools.
1- WinXP install files, usually on a disc, and usually comes WITH the computer. If you don't have the discs....you need to get them. You will have to re-install windows XP. Windows 10, may or maynot work. And if you can not access windows 10 to do a restore back to winXP, then you have to do it via the discs or bootable USB
Once the update finishes.....we will know what our next step is.
Also.....was it your intention to upgrade to windows 10?
Or did 'windows update' automatically want to upgrade to win10?
Do you till have the discs that came with the computer?
Did you purchase this computer NEW, or USED? What kind of computer is it? Is it Dell? HP? Gateway?
YAH! most folks throw those away....SO BRAVO on you!
Wait...what happened to the update?
I commend your wanting to move along unadvised....but please do not.
There is a process, and by skipping, or moving to quickly, can jepordize the recovery.
If your disc drive will NOT read the disc....its NOT windows 10's fault I assure you.
Try blowing out the drive with compressed air....it might be dirty
This chat session seems to be a bit too cumbersome for your liking I think.
Would you prefer a phone call?
Okay...best of luck.
