Hello and thank you for choosing just answer.

Are you on the computer that is having the problem now?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I am booting it up.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It is updating which is strange since I have not been able to get pass the sign-in.
Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 1 year ago.

Yeah, it needs to continue to update

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Will you wait?
Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 1 year ago.

Although, what is strange, is that you should NOT be able to go from XP to Win10

Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 1 year ago.

Yeah, I will be here for the next few hours.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I realized that after I attempted to load Windows 10. I found out during m y research to find out why Windows 10 was not working. Then I attempted to uninstall it. Could not get Windows XP back up. No, I did not back it up. Shame on me! What do you suggest?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It is 20% complete w/ the updates.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Are you still here?
Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 1 year ago.

Oh man....you might have a doozy of a issue.

YOu might need to pop the XP discs back in, and do a repair. But that may not work. and you may have to completely re-install, meaning wiping data.

But if you can pull the hard drive out, and connect to a diff computer, you might be able to save/move the data off.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
are you saying you cannot help?
Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 1 year ago.

Yes, I am still here.....but it does take a bit of time to type out long responses.

I can certainly help....that's not the problem. But I want you to be prepared for the long list of troubleshooting issues, that's all

Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 1 year ago.

In order to fix....we must first collect our tools.

1- WinXP install files, usually on a disc, and usually comes WITH the computer. If you don't have the discs....you need to get them. You will have to re-install windows XP. Windows 10, may or maynot work. And if you can not access windows 10 to do a restore back to winXP, then you have to do it via the discs or bootable USB

Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 1 year ago.

Once the update finishes.....we will know what our next step is.

Also.....was it your intention to upgrade to windows 10?

Or did 'windows update' automatically want to upgrade to win10?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It was my intention to upgrade to Windows 10. But not now. Just want Windows XP back.
Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 1 year ago.

I understand.

Do you till have the discs that came with the computer?

Did you purchase this computer NEW, or USED? What kind of computer is it? Is it Dell? HP? Gateway?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I just checked my file cabinet. I found disks that came w/ the computer.
Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 1 year ago.

YAH! most folks throw those away....SO BRAVO on you!

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I just put a disk in. The disks are not labeled. The computer cannot read the disk. GREAT! Nothing on my computer works anymore sincef attempting to load Windows 10.
Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 1 year ago.

Wait...what happened to the update?

Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 1 year ago.

I commend your wanting to move along unadvised....but please do not.

There is a process, and by skipping, or moving to quickly, can jepordize the recovery.

If your disc drive will NOT read the disc....its NOT windows 10's fault I assure you.

Try blowing out the drive with compressed air....it might be dirty

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
After the update attempt, Windowns XP was gone and Windows 10 was too imcomplete. And, I do not know my microsoft user name or passowrd. It would be helpful to get into my microsoft account. How?
Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 1 year ago.

This chat session seems to be a bit too cumbersome for your liking I think.

Would you prefer a phone call?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Not for $20. It is bad enough I had to sign up for a free trial. Okay, I will have to take this to my local coputer guy.
Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 1 year ago.

Okay...best of luck.
