Customer Question

I have a Lonovo P500 Idea PC. Today the screen went dim and I can barely see it. I've tried to use the function keys to brighten it as well as the utility in Windows 10 to no avail. Can I try something else? Rich

I want you to do a system restore to undo any damaged that may have occurred.
To do this, power off the computer.
Then power it on and at the sign in screen do not sign in
Instead, hold SHIFT and with it held down, click on the power icon and click restart.
Keep shift held down until it has restarted and you are then taken to a menu.
Choose Troubleshoot
Then choose Advance
Then system restore
Follow the onscreen instructions and perform a system restore using the last restore date.
When this has completed, tell me if the screen has now improved please.

Once done, restart and tell me if you still have the problem.
I can also do these steps for you, and have made a request via Additional Services. This is optional, and if you choose to do this, I can, with your permission, remote into your computer while you watch and do all these steps (and deal with any problems that arise during them) for you. Or if you do not choose to take this service, we can continue here. This is no problem at all. Just let me know please.

It will not touch your files but you will need to reinstall programs.
So go back to the menu and choose to do a refresh of the computer
Let this complete and tell me if it then functions please.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Just failed the last restore so I will now try the refresh.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
After reading the refresh instructions I will need to backup my programs.

It is the internal video card or the LCD screen that has faulted. We have ruled everything else out.
I am really sorry about this and you are going to have to return the computer to have a hardware diagnostics performed and the faulting component replaced. It will be covered by the warranty if this has not expired, and the replacement will be done at no cost to you.
I am really sorry about this, and if you have problems, or would like any additional information or assistance, please do not hesitate to let me know.
And if you can take a second to rate my service, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
