remote access will give a direct access to work on the problem rather then a phone call. do you have skype installed on your computer.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I did expand the driver control and did the driver update. the response was that I already have the best driver installed??
Expert:  Michelle replied 1 year ago.

what is the name of the driver?

Expert:  Michelle replied 1 year ago.

are you adjusting the brightness control from your keyboard?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
intel (R) HD graphics 4000
Expert:  Michelle replied 1 year ago.

how do you adjust the brightness control?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
brightnes selector in start menu, or via the power options in control panel. neither way adjusts, since the 8.1 installed
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
By the way, I'm on another pc with you, at the moment, not signed on to email on the Lenovo
Expert:  Michelle replied 1 year ago.

you will see Fn key at the bottom left hand of your keyboard press that and then tap on the F6 and F7 to adjust the brightness let me know if that works.

Expert:  Michelle replied 1 year ago.

please click on the battery icon on bottom right of taskbar...click on more power options....you will be able to see the option to change the brightness setting

you can adjust the brightness by sliding the marker for both adapter andbattery mode

click on save changes

Expert:  Michelle replied 1 year ago.

let me know the status

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
the f11 and f12 keys will adjust brightness up/down (not using the fn key). The f6 and f7 (function) keys are for screen off and airplane mode.
Expert:  Michelle replied 1 year ago.

so do those keys adjust the brghtness

also did you try the power options setting i gave above

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Tried the options you gave. The only adjustment I'm able to make to the brightness is with the keys on top row. The ones which also serve as f11 and f12, if the fn key is pressed.
Expert:  Michelle replied 1 year ago.

so does it make the change to the brightness..the f11 and f12 key

or there is no change

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The f11 and f12 keys do adjust (not while holding the fn key, of course). That's the only way the screen brightness will now adjust.....?
Expert:  Michelle replied 1 year ago.

click on the battery icon on bottom right

click on power options

let me know if its set at balanced or power saver

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
balanced
Expert:  Michelle replied 1 year ago.

click on chnage plan settings

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
done
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
sliding the brightness bar in this screen has no effect
Expert:  Michelle replied 1 year ago.

slide it and click save changes

Expert:  Michelle replied 1 year ago.

once you save the changes brightness should change

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The only brightness adjustments the pc responds to, are the two top row keys, as was the case prior to my contacting you.
Expert:  Michelle replied 1 year ago.

so if you increase the brightness, does the brightness reduce on its own or stays at that same ratio

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Nothing changes via any method, other than the two top row keys..
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
fortunately, they are still functional (for now)
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I have very much appreciated your trying to resolve. But since we were not able to effect a change, please do not charge me, per the agreement screen at the beginning. Thanks so much.
Expert:  Michelle replied 1 year ago.

i have checked with the windows 8.1 version settings

the recommended way to adjust brightness is via the function keys that is f11 and f12

Expert:  Michelle replied 1 year ago.

if these keys are able to adjust the brightness there is nothing you should worry about

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Thanks Michelle. Will I be charged?
Expert:  Michelle replied 1 year ago.

since you have not rated my service, i have not received any credit for my service

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Meaning, please?
Expert:  Michelle replied 1 year ago.

so i have not received any payment for this question yet..feel free to ask me in case you needmy help in future

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
