I have (actually my son's) an Acer Aspire laptop, model M5-583P-5859...having problems with Internet connection. Running WIN 8.1
I'm fairly savvy with my own PC troubleshooting, however this one has me stumped.
Typically it connects via WiFi, but a week or so ago was having issues connecting.
From time to time, it shows "no Internet". Other times, it can connect to https (secure) sites, but not http.
I thought perhaps it was the wireless card, so I plugged in using an ethernet cable and same issues.
I've tried restore points, also run some cleaners. No luck.
Any suggestions??

Cannot connect to any http websites.

Sometimes, cannot connect to any hhtps websites either (seems coincides with "no internet" message in my connection)

When able to connect, seems only https (i.e. google, youtube)

First try to reset google chrome browser to its defaults settings :

  1. In the top-right corner of the browser window, click the Chrome menu Chrome menu
  2. Select Settings.
  3. At the bottom, click Show advanced settings.
  4. Under the section "Reset settings,” click Reset settings.
  5. In the dialog that appears, click Reset.

Same results, doesn't connect (neither http or https).

I should note, I've also tried IE and same issues.

And, I'm certain it's not my wireless network, as I've got 3 other computers connected and working.

I am using Kaspersky. Have paused the protection (multiple times) and tried it. Same issue.

It doesn't appear you will be able to help me.

I'm doing my best to help you, please try to desactivate your firewall and try again. Open Windows Firewall by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type firewall, and then click Windows Firewall. Click Turn off Windows Firewall and click ok now try to open your google browser and type for example Let me know the results Thank you
