May I start a remote screen sharing session with you so that I can better help you resolve this problem?
When the remote begins, a chat window will appear that we can use to communicate with each other.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

No thanks.

Expert:  Jason Jones replied 1 year ago.
I understand. We can continue without the remote.
What else can you tell me about the problem? Does the backup give you errors, does it ever start?

Let's make sure that the two services required to run backup are set to "Automatic (delayed start)". Make note of whether or not each of the services are already set to that and running.
Please, do the following:
- Press the two following keys at the same time: the Windows key and the letter R
- In the box that comes up, type: services.msc
- Click Ok
- If the SPP service is disabled, double-click it to open the service properties. In the new window, choose Automatic (delayed start) as the startup type and click Apply.
- If Volume Shadow Copy service is double-click it to open the service properties. In the new window, choose Automatic (delayed start) as the startup type and click Apply.
- Restart the computer.
