Hitting the enter button on either of these choices just quickly blanks out the screen and then shows me the same options

Thank you for the update. That means that you may have an issue with your installation of Windows.
Do you have the Windows install CD/DVD? You need to do the following:
- Put the cd/dvd in the cd/dvd drive.
- At the boot menu, choose the cd/dvd drive and press enter.
- At the next screen, choose to "Repair" windows and follow the instructions that it gives you.
- After that is completed, allow the computer to restart and boot normally.
All should be set now.

In that case, you may have to do a full factory reset of the laptop. It will erase all on it now and will be in the same as it was when you first purchased it. After the reset, you can boot into Windows normally.
Instructions:
- Turn the laptop off and on.
- Start tapping the F11 key, which is located on the top row of the keyboard.
- Choose your keyboard layout and click ok.
- Enter your user password ***** Windows, if you have one.
- When you are given choices for recovery, you will be given the choices of restoring to a previous date or reset to factory defaults.
- To first try restoring to a working time, choose "System Restore", choose a date to restore to and continue.
If the system restore option didn't help, you can repeat the above instructions; however, this time choose "System Image Recovery" instead of "System Restore". The System Image Recovery option will factory reset the laptop and erase all information on it.

I did exactly this but the but the F11 button did nothing and as it loaded up it just took me back to the boot menu box. I can tab to the Application Menu which gets me to a Lenovo diagnostic screen. There is an option to "Recover Bad Sectors" tool? It states it may take an hour to do so.

Press the fN button while you press the F11 key, please.
