No problem taking out any cords, however in order to take out the battery I assume I will have to open the casing, requiring some very fine screwdrivers.
I may not be able to do this until later this afternoon.

No luck so far I am afraid. Not able to take the back off the unti as the philips head screw driver is not moving the bolts.
Is this ASUS a sealed unit I wonder?
It is a little difficult to take out the battery, can you please press and hold the power button for about 25 seconds and check, if t doesn't work out please press and release quickly and repeatedly the power button for about 10 times and check again.let me know the results pleaseThank you
