Can you copy the favorites from one computer to another?

Hunter Owens :

Hello,

It will be my pleasure to assist you with your computer today.

Hunter Owens :

Are you using Internet Explorer on both computers?

Customer:

yes

Hunter Owens :

Are you trying to copy from Vista to Windows 7, or the other way?

Customer:

From Vista to Windows 7

Hunter Owens :

Thanks. Are you on your Vista computer currently?

Customer:

I am on the windows 7 machine but I can go to the other one

Hunter Owens :

Yes, go on your Vista computer, open Internet Explorer, and click on the Tools menu.

If you don't see the Tools menu, press the Alt key on your keyboard.

From the drop-down menu, select Import and Export.

Then select Export Favorites and click Next.

Select the main/highest Favorites folder on the next screen and click next.

Save the file to your desktop and then click Next.

Hunter Owens :

Sorry, you'll actually want to use the File menu in the first step, not the Tools menu.

Hunter Owens :

I had a typo in my instructions.

Customer:

I find tools but there is no import export feature

Hunter Owens :

Please check under the File menu.

Hunter Owens :

Did you see it there?

Customer:

yes I did that then copied it to the desktop and then a zip drive. I would assume that you then import to the new computer right?

Hunter Owens :

Yes, so you have the file on a zip drive, and have you inserted it into your Windows 7 computer yet?

Customer:

yes

Hunter Owens :

Great. Now do you see a File in this copy of Internet Explorer?

Hunter Owens :

The chat says that you went offline. If you haven't already imported the Favorites when you return, click on File, select Import and Export, and then Import Favorites and browse to the file on your zip drive.

If you don't see the File menu, press the Alt key.

Customer:

I saw that and got them imported. I accidently closed the window and then tried to get back on. I think I rated your service but let me know if I didn't. On the screen I got back it had no activity just the rating.

Hunter Owens :

Great! From my view it doesn't show that you've rated/closed our session yet. Could you try clicking on the rating options again?
