Which version of Eudora you are using ? Is it on a mac or on a windows machine ?

Right click on Eudora shortcut and select Run as Administrator option to open Eudora. to enable spell check please follow the steps below:
Select Tools menu, then Options. Go to Spell Checking category. Be sure to have the Spell check enabled. Click on OK button.

I said in my posing of the problem that I had done that! You have not solved my problem. The problem probably lies in contact with a spelling dictionary. But I am not familiar enough to know what to look for.

Thank you for the info. The required dictionaries in your Program Directory may damaged and that may the reason of this issue.

Please download the appropriate zip files (American.zip for american english and British.zip for british english ) from

ftp://ftp.qualcomm.com/eudora/eudorapro/windows/extras/dictionaries/3.0.1andlater/.

Once you have them, unzip the .CLX and .TLX files and place them in the Eudora folder.(To find it, right click on the Eudora shortcut on your desktop and select Properties. On the resulting Properties window click on Shortcut tab. Click on the Open File Location button. You will get open the Eudora program folder. )


After copying the files, launch Eudora and copy and paste the following text into a new message-

<x-eudora-option:MainLexFiles=british.tlx,british.clx,american.tlx,american.clx>

The text you paste will show up in blue as a URL. Hold down the ALT key and click on it - a window will appear asking you to click OK. Click OK. That will do it - Eudora will now use the British language dictionaries and the American English dictionaries.

Did you download the zip files I sent through wikisend ? You need to download it and extract the contents of those zip files. And copy the extracted files to Eudora folder and then launch Eudora and copy and paste the following text into a new message-

This is probably incorrect. Should the files be just under the Eudor directory

I do not think instituting the last message was necessary in my case. The capability was always there but the dictionaries somehow got lost. (Beats me!)

 

One point of criticism to your otherwise excellent service. When you gave the link, somehow the "ies" following "dictionar" was truncated.
