You did have to go to the control panel under custom to reconfigure it right?

To fix this problem (and other similar problems):

1. Open My Computer.
2. Click Tool-->Folder Options.
3. Click File Types
4. Locate the file type (in this case: WAV).
5. Click Change, and choose the program (in this case, media player).
6. Click OK.

That's it - will work with any file type.
