I have a Dell D600 windows XP Pro and it is just about useless

This answer was rated:

I have a Dell D600 windows XP Pro and it is just about useless because unwanted and unsolicited adds pop up so fast I can't get much use out of the internet. I can't close these adds fast enough to get anything done. I have tried add blockers, pop-up blockers and have even purchased Mal-Ware Bytes. This all started when PC Matic billed me for $250 through my Paypal account without my permission for a service I did not order. I challenged the charge through Pay Pal and won. I got my money back but my computer has been useless ever since. Nothing I do stops these incessant adds from popping up. I think PC Matic is doing this to teach me a lesson and force me to buy their product. How do I fix this and get my computer back to the reliable high speed it used to have and is there any recourse to go after whoever is doing this?

I finally found my way back. What next? If you reconnect and do any web search with Firefox you will see what I am up against. Malewarebytes cleans things up but is not preventing anything.

I had to go back to work but will pay now. I need to know if I did something to invite this problem or did someone like pcmatic do this in retaliation. Also how do I prevent it again.
